To stop dangerous products already at the border is an important objective for customs and market surveillance authorities in the EU. The European Commission has therefore published guidelines to improve cooperation between authorities in their control of whether products imported from third countries comply with EU legislation. The guidelines are based on the provisions in EU Regulation 765/2008 setting out requirements for market surveillance relating to the marketing of products.
