3D printing challenges EU legislation
The increased use of digital services, for example 3D printing, in the production process blurs the distinction between the manufacturing of goods and the provision of services. In a recent report the National Board of Trade examines the consequences of changing production patterns on product legislation. The Board concludes that legislation needs to be adapted to these changes if not legal uncertainties should lead to fragmentation of the internal market, hampered use of 3D printing and loss of competitiveness of European industry.
